Huawei Technologies Successfully Hosts Third Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2)

TGC (CHINA)--On 10 July 2007, 3G.CO.UK.Com advised Huawei Technologies successfully hosted the 3GPP2 conference in Kumming, China. The event was attended by 200 industrial experts from Unicom, Verizon Wireless, KDDI, SKT, and Qualcomm. Huawei used the event to propose an Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB) architecture concept adopted by 3GPP2 and supports operator networks achieving a peak rate of 288 Megabytes per second (Mbps), assisting the evolution of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) 2000 (described as a technology for digital transmission of radio signals between, for example, a mobile telephone and a radio base station). As of June 2007, Huawei serves more than 100 million CDMA users worldwide and has won 47 Evolution Data Optimized (EV-DO) contracts. EV-DO is a wireless radio broadband data protocol being adopted by many CDMA mobile phone providers in Japan, Korea, Israel, the United States.
