Beijing Will Relax Regulations For Overseas Journalists

KUNA (TOYKO)--A Kuwait News Agency reports from state-run news agency Xinhua News Agency, since January of this year, the Chinese Government temporarily relaxed regulations of activities by foreign journalists during the Olympics preparatory period and later events. Foreign journalists need only obtain their prior consent to interview organizations or individuals across China; relaxation of rules to hire Chinese citizens to work for foreign media; and journalists can bring a reasonable quantity of reporting equipment into Beijing duty free for their own use. Journalists with a valid Olympic Identity and Accreditation Card (OIAC) and Paralympic Identity and Accreditation Card, are entitled to multiple entries into the territory of China with visa exemption by presenting their OIAC with valid passports or other travel documents.
