Canadian Company Research In Motion (RIM) Wins Approval To Offer Blackberry Handsets In China
TN (TORONTO)--On 4 July 2007, Telecom News through the Toronto Globe & Mail reports Canadian-based company Research In Motion (RIM) from a Beijing office states they won approval from the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry (MII) to sell BlackBerry handsets in China. The manager also states RIM plans to start selling the BlackBerry 8700g handset in Chinese stores at the end of August. So far, corporate customers are the majority that have put in approximately 5,000 advance orders from RIM. The Blackberries will likely be sold in China at equal to about CAD700; 5,070 yuan; or USD667. RIM is also looking at plans to make the devices in China.
