China's Meteorological Satellites Positioned To Offer Precise Weather Forecasts

JND (CHINA)--Jongo News Daily reports China's meteorological satellites Feng Yun-2 D with Feng Yun-2 C likely are positioned to offer dimensional cloud charts for more precise weather forecasts. The Feng Yun-2 D, launched in December 2006, works with Feng Yun-2 C. The twin satellites offer weather observations of the whole country every 15 minutes versus previous forecasts done every half hour. The Vice Premier Hui Liangyu states enhanced forecasting is a greater effort for preventing flood control and disaster relief amid a season of heavy rain and flooding along the Yangtze River. The Beijing Weather Bureau pledged to improve its accuracy in weather forecasting for the 2008 Olympics.
