China Netcom Sets Up Command Center For Olympics

CER (CHINA)--On 31 July 2007, China Daily through the China Economic Review states there will be 12 Olympic test events planned next month across China and a trial test for China Netcom. China Netcom is a fixed-line telecommunications partner of the Beijing Games, and they set up a command center with trained staff to help ensure there are no glitches at the Olympics. Senior Vice-President Zhao Jidong of the company is confident of promoting service standards. China Netcom connects the mainland to 260 countries and regions worldwide. The 2008 Games will be the first Olympics to be broadcast in broadband which means it will be sharper, packed full of information and have a choice of languages. Media personnel can receive a special integrated circuit card to connect to the Internet at venue-based media centers. China Netcom is also working to promote advanced technologies to the general public both before and after the Games.
