China Mobile Continues To Profit From Subscriber Growth Likely Increasing Release Of Third Generation (3G) Licenses For The Summer Games

TI (CHINA)--A first quarter 2007 report from China Mobile reported via Telecommunications Insight, Business Monitor International, reveals operational data that shows the total voice usage, measured in minutes, did rise by about 9% since the end of 2006. The report states that mobile data services and messaging is very popular, and the number of China Mobile's users of mobile data services grew to over 300 million and the number of Short Message Services (text messages) sent during the last quarter rose by 16% quarter on quarter to over 100 billion. The report also states that this suggests that in time China Mobile can revive declining average revenue per minute, and that even more importantly, 3G mobile telephony, with its faster access to data transmission, is likely to be a success in China.
