Top 10 Emerging Mobile Phone Countries

UNA (USA)--Unstrung News Analysis predicted in the 2007 first quarter that mobile growth in 10 countries accompanied economic expansion, deregulation, and the need for communications infrastructure where there is a lack of fixed-line connectivity. Research found that with every 10 percent increase in mobile phone penetration, a country's GDP increases by 0.6 percent. With the exception of the US, the table shows, India and China are way ahead of the pack in terms of sheer volume. The US added 23 million subscribers last year, which would have put it in fifth place. The ranking is as follows: 1. India; 2. China; 3. Pakistan; 4. Russia; 5. Indonesia; 6. Ukraine; 7. Brazil; 8. Bangladesh; 9. Nigeria; 10. Vietnam.
