Guide For Foreign Journalists Planning To Cover The 2008 Olympic Games
IJN (CHINA)-- On 16 May 2007, International Journalists Network, an Asia Media web site, reports a Chinese committee has issued a guide for foreign journalists planning to cover the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. The Beijing Organizing Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG) released the guide on 9 May 2007. Besides useful information for visiting correspondents, the text offers guidelines on interviewing Chinese athletes and coverage of public emergencies. The guide says that any foreign journalists who wish to interview Chinese athletes must first submit an application to Olympic officials. For interviews of other citizens, the guide says, “foreign journalists need only to obtain the prior consent of such individuals or organizations.”
